Gubernatorial candidates Jim Davis & Daryl Smith
On monday afternoon I received one of those last minute phone calls. It was Jim Davis’ office explaining that his new runningmate would be in town for one afternoon and they needed headshots.
No Pressure or anything.
I’m a location photographer, studios are boring to me so I just packed up all my gear and headed to Tampa. After finding a big enough back room in the office which is an older commercial building in need of some TLC, we realized the only backdrop options were unfinished drywall.
“Ahem, cough”
A staffer found a smallish size State of Florida flag that was just barely big enough to work.
I got my lights setup and then found out what crazy hectic lives politicians really live. I had to wait for them to finish phone calls to DC and then I had about 3 minutes with each before Jim Davis had to fly off to DC right away and Daryl Jones had to go to So. FL right away.
Crazy, fast paced shoot but given the obstacles, we all made it work

ROCKAIDS Concert at Jannus Landing in St. Pete
I had the pleasure of being chosen to be the official photographer for ROCKAIDS 7, a benefit rock concert at Jannus Landing by the non-profit org, ROCKAIDS whose mission is to raise the level of HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. As they say, “Its a disease that has no cure but it’s 100% preventable” It just takes a little awareness and the folks at ROCKAIDS fight hard to bring that info to the masses.
The show featured some of Floridas best rock acts. John Allison Band, Chumleys Toy, Suburban Tragedy and Rude Squad.
As a music fan, I had a blast. As a photographer, I worked my butt of and had a blast! I went all out even mounting a radio controlled camera in the lighting rig over the drums for funky wide angle shots overlooking the stage and crowd. The photos were mainly shot to feature on the ROCKAIDS website but we’ve gotten TONS of inquiries about purchasing prints, posters, etc so I’ve made the full gallery available on the viewing/ordering site.

Melissa & Keith - Lido Beach, FL
Melissa & Keith were a fun couple that came down from Austell, GA for a beach wedding at the Helmsley Sandcastle . Mother nature had us a little worried as it was pretty much raining all day. It was literally about 10 minutes before the start time of the ceremony that the final “will it be outside or inside” decision was made. They were still blessed by a beautiful ceremony on the beach with closest friends and relatives.
The one great thing about weather like that is the drop-dead gorgeous lighting and skies it provides.
Afterwards, the party was jumping in the balroom with the DJ Rob Benjamin from U Need A DJ really reading the crowd and keeping them rocking all night. I love when I get to work with other wedding vendors that truly love their jobs as much as I do. During a reception, communication between the DJ and photographeer is critical and rob was just the best to work with.
